Help with N/R Death Nova/Putrid Explosion
Hello,
Current setup:
12 +4 death
3 +1 soulreaping
12 beastmastery
1. Deathly swarm (84 dmg)
2. Putrid explosion (126 dmg)
3. Death nova (105 dmg)
4. Call of haste
5. Nature's renewal
6. Edge of extinction (43 dmg)
7. Charm animal
8. Resurrection signet
I've used it only in 4v4 random arenas.
It works pretty well but I have a couple of problems with it:
1. I use the pet only because I have points in beast mastery for edge of extinction.
2. Oftentimes teammates will whine because they feel edge of extinction is killing them more than it's killing enemies.
Do you have suggestions for replacement skills (to replace edge of extinction mainly) that work in synergy with putrid explosion and that will not potentially anger teammates?
Thanks.
Edit: Professions can change: N/* or */N

The pet alone without any skills is pretty much pointless.
Should the pet die, it happens... You lose all your skills for an agonizing 8 seconds.
You don't need a pet to keep beastmastery high. If you must have that pet, then you can get an elite in that build. Replace EoE with Ferocious Strike. I noticed you have no points in Soul Reaping. [4 points ain't crap] You'll want the extra energy and the massive damage your pet will be doing.
I for one would go 10+2 death, 10+1 soul reaping, 11 beast mastery. Then you'd never have energy problems so long as bodies drop.

What does nature's renewal do here that helps the rest of your skills?

Nature's Renewal is to destroy the hundreds of smiting monks that play in the arenas, or self-buffing W/Mo's, or whoever relies too much on enchantments. It's worked quite well so I'd like to keep it... in random arenas it's good to be versatile.
Of course necro has a lot of enchantment removal options but I felt Nature's Renewal was simpler.
Edit: but I agree with you, it's not essential in the build so if I ever need the space I will ditch it.

Didn't they change it to 4 or something? It's definately not 8 anymore.

I think you're right. Anyways in 2 or 3 battles the pet did become a target for some reason. In that case I put Death Nova on him, and later his body was used as a bomb. So he fits quite well with the build. I think I'm just going to swap Call of Haste for the elite pet attack skill. And maybe ditch Nature's Renewal for something else, like that -20% healing ritual.
Edit: Oh and thanks for the feedback!
